Sense of Smell
I haven't been able to smell for about a week now. This wicked sinus infection may, at last, be starting to wane. I can say that, as a Mother, being able to smell is important. Then again, I haven't smelled one dirty nappy all week. I haven't smelled any sick. When I had a stomach bug I couldn't even smell any of that nastiness. I couldn't smell the manure on the road out in the country, nor could I smell the dog poo someone stepped in. Sounds great, right? I also couldn't smell the turkey cooking or the lovely lotion I used. Sofia's little baby doll smells like vanilla and I can't smell it.
I think you get the idea anyway. It isn't something I have ever really thought about, losing your sense of smell. It would be horrific to lose sight or sound, but your sense of smell and taste are important, too. There were quite a few days where food tasted like nothing so it was really boring, but that is starting to come back to me now. I had some Skittles and I could taste the fruitiness and some dark chocolate with mint that was divine.
Take a minute to think about all of the things you smell and what it would be like if you didn't have it.
