You want how much for that syrup?

When I was doing some shopping yesterday I decided to pick up some maple syrup since we ran out a month or two ago.  I stopped in the ice cream toppings section to get that yummy Real Maple Syrup that I got last time.  Damn.  It was nearly 5 Pounds!  I know it wasn't that much last time I bought it.  People, that is close to $10.  OK, with the exchange rate looking better at the moment maybe yesterday it would have been just over $8.  FOR A SMALL JAR OF REAL MAPLE SYRUP.  No more pancakes in this household :(  Booooooo...

You should go to the shop at the border crossing between Canada and USA on the 1,000 Islands - it was ridiculously expensive there. We bought ours in the Adirondacks... so neither Canadian or Vermont maple syrup!

We get ours from Waitrose, but I can't remember how much it is.
